Massachusetts racers and their fans have had an abundance of race tracks to choose from over the years, 43 in all. Today just two are left: Seekonk Speedway. & Palmer Motorsports Park. Opened on 1941, Seekonk continues to operate under its original owners and builders, the Vandetti family. They race stock cars on Saturday nights with periodic mid-week special events.
Some of New England’s most popular tracks in their day included the wide half-mile at the Eastern States (Big E) Fairgrounds, Riverside Park in Agawam which in the 60s filled every seat on Saturday nights, and the Pines in Groveland that had huge success with midgets and then cutdowns which became supermodifieds.
